Midsummer Missive

Written on July 30, 2026

Summer is certainly a time where things slow down whole lot for good reason in New Orleans, but we’ve been (relatively) busy:

First, we recorded 8 songs with engineer Ben Mumphrey in mid-June (the week after our last show at the Saturn Bar for the Antigravity anniversary party). We’re currently in the process of overdubbing tracks at our own studio, but stay tuned as we make progress towards completing the new album.

Next, if you’re in town this weekend, half of Chef Menteur will be exhibiting their art at Nola ‘Nacular, Anthony DelRosario’s gallery at 1172 Magazine Street, this Saturday 1 August starting at 6pm. Dan, despite being mostly a drummer, has created a bevy of beautiful synthesizers, hybrid noise-makers that you can get hands-on with, if you like knobs. Philip, the guy who actually plays most of the synths in the band, will also be showing some of his art. See a preview here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DbVoW0REZEK/?img_index=1

And Dan will undoubtably be talking about it with DJ Kerry tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 11am on WTUL 91.5 FM, so tune in if you can.

Finally, some gig news: We just found out we’ll be playing at BJ’s LOUNGE with Spaghetti Heist on Friday, 4 September at 8pm. Mark your calendar! We’ll send out another email closer to the gig with a real flyer and stuff.

Hope you’re surviving the summer heat!

KEEP CALM AND DRONE ON,

Chef Menteur
